Set Free

We have entered my favorite time of year.

Easter.

There is no greater time for me.

Christmas is a beautiful time of year. We decorate our homes with twinkling lights. Adorn our fireplaces with momentums new and old. We celebrate the beauty of the coming Christ. We celebrate Emmanuel, God with us. We gather and lavish gifts upon each other in rejoicing over the greatest gift given to us. God, coming in the flesh to dwell amongst the creation He has created.

But at Easter - Easter we celebrate death.

Death that brings LIFE.

And it begins on one of the darkest days for humanity. The day we call GOOD. 

On this GOOD day we experience the weight of one Man shedding His blood for all of humanity. A body pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, which was grossly unfair. He took upon Himself the punishment we deserve, yet brings us peace.

He allowed Himself to be like a sheep taken to the slaughtering house.

Whipped.

Beaten.

Spit upon.

Cursed at.

His oppressors made him unrecognizable.

He was oppressed and afflicted. But like a sheep before its shearers, He remained silent.

Without this death, however, we would remain stuck. Left in our mire. We are left in our brokenness, shame, and guilt.

But 

On this Good Day we are set free.

Free from the pain of sin.

Free from lies.

Free from guilt.

Free from shame.

Free from brokenness.

Free from a death we deserve.

Free from the sin that separates us from the One who dwells among us.

We are set FREE.

Can you feel it?

Do you understand that level of freedom?

Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:34-36

SO IF THE SON SETS YOU FREE, YOU WILL BE FREE INDEED.

Have you allowed Christ to set you free? Are you still walking with shackles around your ankles? Shackles to the guilt of this life?

Because if Christ has set you free, YOU ARE SET FREE INDEED.

The weight is no longer on you! It’s no longer on me!

Speak it out loud: “I AM SET FREE!”

Louder!

He bore every single scar upon His body SO THAT you and I would not have to be shackled to the guilt, pain, lies of sin the enemy would like to keep us stuck in.

He who the SON of God. The Living King. The Alpha and Omega has set free is FREE INDEED.

Walk in that freedom!
