Faith is Constant || Part 4c of 4

Faith is Constant || Part 4c of 4

I looked back on the last time I shared a post and it was back on February 28th. Just before the craziness of COVID19 hit the fan here in Washington State. I have had so many things running through my mind on what I want to write about, but have found little time to just sit down and write until today.

I know these days find uncertainty for many. Uncertainty in health, jobs, finances, etc… So I pray the continuation of the Fierce Faith talks give you peace and comfort!

This is a continuation of the Fierce Faith posts previously shared. Please visit the following first installments of this series here:

Faith Is Constant

Faith is a constant daily action. Building a firm foundation of faith is a MUST. Seeking wisdom, seeking truth, seeking understanding, seeking knowledge should be daily. A deep, mature, knowledge of who God is will not just be handed to us. Nor will we ever “arrive” of fully knowing Him. But what faith is, and absolutely should be, is constantly growing. Faith is stagnant.

Jerry and I have been married going on 14 years. I know what makes him tick. I know how he likes his coffee. I know his passions. I know his likes and dislikes. I know what irritates him. I even know that when he starts to scratch his head while we’re talking that I am annoying him… I KNOW him. And I am CONSTANTLY learning more about him daily.

I also know that if I choose to STOP knowing him that our relationship will die. If I choose to stop engaging, stop loving, stop carrying, stop treating him with respect, just stop in general. Things are going to die. My love for Jerry is a daily constant choice.

It is the SAME with our faith.

You may be at a place in your walk with Jesus where it is still very new. You want to know more, understand more, seek more, but you don’t know where to begin. You look at the Bible with its over 2000 pages and get a little mind blown, a little overwhelmed. However, God has surrounded us with people, placed specific people in our lives ON PURPOSE. He has placed women, and others in our lives to help us seek and understand His truths. He wants you to ask questions, seek knowledge and wisdom. And please know there are NO dumb questions. ASK, have conversations, seek out a friend you feel comfortable with, someone you can be transparent with in seeking understanding.

I love the story of Philip and the Eunuch in the book of Acts. We find Philip hanging out and then all of a sudden, an angel of the Lord appears to him and tells him to go to a specific road...

Act 8:26-31

26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. 27 And he rose and went. And there was an Ethiopian, a eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship 28 and was returning, seated in his chariot, and he was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.”30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

You may be like the Eunuch - looking for someone to help you understand these incredible scriptures. OR You may be a Philip. God has placed someone on your heart to mentor who is new in their faith, who is struggling, or someone whose roots are still very new and not deeply rooted that is just WAITING for someone to ask them, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

God is calling us to remove our comfort zones, to constantly seek Him. To take up our crosses DAILY and follow Him. AND to walk alongside others.

The only way we can truly follow Him, is to KNOW Him. The only way to truly KNOW Him is to get in His word and learn about Him.

He has given us EVERYTHING we need to know in His Word. The choice is ours. To study, learn, and seek God’s wisdom. And He has surrounded us with amazing women, and amazing believers ON PURPOSE to sharpen and strengthen our faith in Him.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17

You may be thinking, “But Michelle, I don’t know who to ask. I don’t know where to start.” And I get it, it can feel daunting. However, one thing I love about Cascade is that as a church, they don’t leave people to flounder. There are amazing Bible studies, classes, people sitting on your left and right, waiting to be utilized. But it comes down to a choice. A choice to be wanting and willing to say “teach me, guide me.”
